Key chain remote for 86 IROC

Hey guys, whats up. This is my first thread so sorry if I did something wrong somehow.

Ok, so i have an 86 IROC-Z 5.0L 305 TPI. From my knowledge the only thing ever done to the car was a sound system, an air horn, and fog lights so its pretty much completly stock. It has all this good stuff like remote start, and electronic trunk which are both controlled by the remote. I have no idea if thats stock or not. Anyway, the remote has 2 buttons on it. One labelled 1, and the other labelled 2. Now for some reason, my car can not be started unless i hit the 1 button. The guy said its some kind of anti theft thing but its very very annoying. And anytime i open the doors or shake the car or anything, the lights start blinking like the alarm is going off but the sound was unhooked, I have to hit the 1 button TWICE to make go off. So im basicly hitting this button 100 times a day!

Now is there ANY possible way to get rid of all this 1 button bull crap and just have a normal car. I feel like the button is going to stop working one day and then ill be screwed.

Thank you for listening to me rant on, and please help!!!

Re: Key chain remote for 86 IROC

Well, first thing, welcome to the board!
now, I'm not too knowledgeable on the ignition electronics on our cars, but I can tell you for certain no thirdgen f-body ever came with wireless remote start, that DeLorean from Back to the Future had a nice gigantic remote but no Camaro or Firebird did.

Now, some of the other wiser guys might correct me if I'm wrong but it seems like you have a VATS (vehicle anti theft system) problem. Thats all I can really tell you. My advice, if it were me and it was more trouble than its worth, I'd get rid of it. Good luck.
