Ive been looking desperatly for the bulbs that go in the third brake light for a 1987 Camaro IROC Z. Just bought this car(my third IROC) and i need to replace the 5 tiny little halogen bulbs but i cannot find them anywhere. can someone help?? no auto part place sells them in my area. Advanced or Autozone. is this a dealer item?? thanks
I know for a fact that AZ and Advance both carry them. I sold auto parts for 7 years and sold plenty of those bulbs. I specifically remember because everyone that bought them was so shocked that it was going to cost over $30 just for their third brake light to work again. I'm pretty sure the part number is 891, it is a small halogen bulb with 2 prongs. The people at your local parts store should learn to read a catalog....lol.

I sell them too, TDS 600260 $2.95 each. The original bulbs are 20 watts. I also sell them in 10 watts because some people have been having a problem with the heat of the bulb melting the back of the lens they attach to. When installing htem don't touch the glass with your fingers. The oil of your fingers will create a hot-spot which will kill the bulb sooner.

For $10 go with the LED kit. A 15min install when I did it on my car. Otherwise go to local Radio Shack P/N 272-1177 $1.99 each and no shipping charges..
Just placed my order to http://www.custom-leds.com/ since I'm too lazy to go to radio shack, cost me $7 so hey its still cheap, not nearly as bad as what they want for the bulbs to replace the burned out ones.

Sorry for bringin the back from the dead, but I just ran into the same problem. All my 3rd brake light bulbs are burnt out. Camaroguy do you have pics of the LED conversion? How does the conversion kit work exactly? Easy to install?

I installed that kit from custom led in about a 1/2 hr....splice in the resistor and insert led's...It can't get any simpler.
YUP 1.99 radio shack!! they look great too thanks guys!!
Got mine from Radio Shack too. No problems with them. Only issue with that is not all of the stores have them in stock. Good to check online first before going.

Sorry no pics, its so simple that if u need pics, u prob shouldnt be driving, but seriously, cut the yellow wire, spice in the resistor, insert leds, check they light up, if they dont, swich the prongs they r in, reinstall screws, ta da. and they dont look any different, other than prob brighter, but mine had been burned out since i got the car, so i dunno about brightness, but now i feel a lil safer knowing people can see my 3rd brake light and not plow into me, well hopefuly not plow into me. so ya, be lazy like me and order the "kit" aka, a ziploc bag of 5 leds and a resistor, or radio shack, i dont know what the resistor capacity was so dont even ask me, plus i dont have a multi-meter to check

Sorry for wanting pics. I didn't know they wer ejust ones that dropped in place of the bulbs, I was expecting something more complicated. Sorry for asking.

Thanks! Mine are on my way, he said he doesn't make them anymore and is just selling off his remaining inventory then most likely taking the website down. So if anyone wants these better order them up!
