I just did a search on our site here and on the internet. I must not be using the correct key words, as I would think this is a common issue/question.

I have one of the new square MSD red coils and a MSD6a box with the factory distributor (non coil on top unit) for my 88 IROC TPI 5.7~ I am in need of a picture/diagram/schematic/drawing of how the coil adapts to the distributor and what the connector looks like for the 6A box to the distributor itself.

Stupid Reason #1~ I accidently tossed my coil to distributor adaptor into a box of spare wiring adaptors and can't figure out which one is it.

Stupid Reason #2~ I cannot find where I put my wiring diagrams other than the basic MSD6A wiring lay-out.

Stupid Reason #3~ I'm still scared of wiring up anything and don't want to SCREW IT UP!!!

Can someone help me? I want to hook the new MSD coil up before I start hooking up my Moates PROM software up for the first time.....

oyu have one plug that goes into your factory coil when you are done, black wire from MSD closest to rounded part of the plug then the orange wire, on the plug that goes into you factory harness you have one red and one white from the MSD going into each plug, red is closest to the notch that lines up the plugs.

Ahhh, Yes; the wire color issue. On my coil that's bolted to the fire wall, there are two plug in connectors. Both are rounded off cornered- rectangular in shape plugs that have two tiny prongs in each. Both connectors have a couple wires to each and each of these two plug in connectors has a pink wire (the IROC is down at a friends shop this weekend where we're switching out the seats for Recaro units that we have to build/weld up our own brackets for so I can use the power seat controls that came from the factory--
so I don't have it here to see the exact lay out for accuracy). I don't know if these two seperate pink wires were once red or orange originally. Plus, I don't see any marking on the factory coil that shows which of the two matching connectors is positive vs negative.
I'm also not understanding what you mean by: "red is closest to the notch that lines up the plugs". Could you be more descriptive???

I think the little wiring harness that I'm pulling out of my jumbled box of spare wires and harnesses, if it's the correct MSD unit; is a short one; maybe 5 inches in length, and has one rectangular plug with rounded off corners on one side, and then two connectors on the other end, with a lot of seperate wires running back and forth between the two ends. Does that sound right??? I looked on the MSD site and they have a two page list of 'common MSD customer questions'", along with quite a few wiring drawings. But I didn't come across one single picture or drawing of the Red MSD firewall coil to GM HEI factory dizzy. Does anyone have a photo or drawing of this adapter that describes how exactly it hooks up??????
