Power locks giving me problems

They used to work perfectly. Now they dont work at all when the car is running, you can press the lock and unlock buttons on the doors all day and it doesent do anything. When the car is not turned on sometimes I have to press unlock on my key chain thing a few times to unlock, and if i sit in the car when its not turned on and press the buttons, they only move a little bit and you either have to press lock like 20times for it to lock or just manual lock both the doors. Very annoying because now when I get out of the car I cant just press lock on my key chain thing I have to make sure to flip the manual switch on both doors while im inside the car.

Any ideas on what could be wrong?

Re: Power locks giving me problems

Also my passenger power window goes up a lot slower then the driver side....... I think im going to just buy new power locks and a new passenger power window motor and wire it all in and if that doesent fix my problems then ill look elsewhere. If you all can just tell me the part #'s of what to buy that would be a huge help.

Try cleaning the slides with wd-40 to get some of gunk off.
I had the same problem before cleaning them, try this before expensive fixes.

Re: Power locks giving me problems

i just put my door panel's back on 3 days ago after paint . clean all ( ALL ) linkage and re-lube all linkage . you will be surprised how well they work , i know i was . i cleaned everything inside with mineral spirits in a spray bottle and a small throw away paint brush . open drain holes on door bottom so solvent can drain out . try this and above before spending big bux. . good luck .
