Slow crank

I'm having a problem with this IROC I just baught. It cranks way to slow. I've tried two different batteries, a new mini starter (the old one was fried) and I even jumped it to another vehicle and it still cranks to slow. The car hasn't started since I purchased it and I'm pretty sure at this point that it is ignition related but I need it to crank (faster) before it will ever fire.

Oh and it's an auto, 305, TPI, '87 IROC.

Re: Slow crank

Are all the battery and starter connections in good shape?

Does it turn at a consistenly slow pace, or does it turn and then sort of stop and hesitate for a second before starting to turn again?

Re: Slow crank

It has new battery terminal and a new positive cable. All the other wiring is good. It is a cosistant crank. Just for kicks though, what would cause it to crank inconsistantly?

Re: Slow crank

My battery has 500 cca but I jumped it off of a car that had 750 cca. I would think that wouldn't matter. I'm probly wrong though.

I'm sure I have an ignition problem. I may be wrong about the consistant cranking. I'll have to check it later.
