trunk latch fuse link for electric pull dowm motor
I was told that the fuse for the 1991 firebirds is at the fuse box for the electric pull down motor... does anybody have a pic of exactly where its at..??.. I can't seem to find it.. I found the fuse box, just not that particular fuse.. I was told that the camaro's have the fuse and relay in a different place than the firebirds.. I don't think my motor is bad, it maybe the switch, or the relay or the fuse.. the motor does'nt run at all.. so I wanted to start at the fuse... any info would be greatly appreciated... Thanks
Re: trunk latch fuse link for electric pull dowm motor
if you got a voltmeter, try taking a point to ground voltage reading right before the switch in the DC mode. if you show 0, than it could be the fuse or maybe a frayed wire due to age. if you show voltage than the fuse is fine. try taking an ohm reading from the contact after the switch to ground, if you get OL than try taking off the contact from the frame and clean it up a bit, but if you show little to 0 ohms, than its probably the motor.
Re: trunk latch fuse link for electric pull dowm motor
The fuse for the pull-down motor on a Camaro is in the fuse block. The fuse for the pull-down motor on a Firebird is not. It is in a single fuse holder that SHOULD be attached to the outside of the fuse block. There is a molded dovetail on the fuse block that the fuse holder should be attached to. However, it can be detached from there, so you may have to look up under the dash near the fuse block for it.

Re: trunk latch fuse link for electric pull dowm motor
I've got a problem with my pull down unit on my 86 IROCZ. It is stuck in the lock down position. I believe that it is due to a mix up in the sequence of the unlocking component. I'm wondering if there is any way I can trick the motor to come back up. It mysteriously stopped working when my 20 amp ACC fuse blew due to a cross wire with a radio install. I check the deck fuse and it is good. The seleniod for the hood relase works I'm thinking that somehow when the ACC fuse went that it froze certain components in the pull down unit and now it won't come up for proper closing.
