Re: No Wipers or Signal lights

You are right, it does sound like the multifunction switch in the steering column is malfunctioning.
Did this problem occur all of a sudden? Did it start happening intermittently first? Or is it a car you just bought?

You can drop the driver side kick panel to gain access to the steering column and you could check the flat connector for the multifunction switch (picture here: http://www.austinthirdgen.org/mkport...-connector.jpg ). The connector might be disconnected by accident.

If you have a test light and would like to test the multifunction switch (via the flat connector) before you replace it, let me know and I can post up a few steps.

Lou

Re: No Wipers or Signal lights

Thanks for the help Lou. I would like the info. on how to test the switch itself. I have checked all the connections there all good. Im going to check for power on the actual connection to make sure im getting power to the switch. I just picked the car up from our family towing company. The car is like brand new, It just needs a paintjob and it was free. again thanks for the help. sorry about the grammar, it was late and I was frusterated.

Re: No Wipers or Signal lights

Yup, I'd check the purple wire first. With the key on, it should read 12V (or light up your test light).
If there's no power on the purple wire, you have power or flasher problem.
Btw, have you checked the fuses yet? I haven't seen it mentioned in your posts.

Once you establish you have power on the purple wire, you can flip the turn signal switch upward and with the key on, test power on the dark blue wire and dark green wire. If no power, the switch might be bad.
Then the same procedure for left turn signal: flip the switch downward and test the light blue wire and the yellow wire.

That should tell you if the switch is working or not.

Hope this helps.
Lou
