fuseable link???

Does anyone know why the TBI cars have a fuseable link from the alt/bat output wire to the jct. block? The TPI and V6 cars do not have this.

they just do. there are about 7 of them. here is the elect circuits - look in the side that says fus link it it points the way.
if i had to guess and im guessing - it has something to do with the amount of power draw.
