Digital Berlineta HELP!!!

Hi...
Recently put my hands on a 84 Berlinetta and surprise! It's digital!
The climate control electronics are fried, also have issues about random on indicator lights that are disconected,
(for example the "choke warning", I cut and tape the wire, it isn't making short anywhere and it turns on occasionally).
I have a lot of documentation and diagrams from Camaros but they are useless for about everything under the dash.
Climate control, wipers, head lights, some indicator lights, etc. are controlled by electronic gizmos.
Looked all over the internet and all I coould find is Chilton and Haynes, a technical service manual with specific diagrams would be fine.
Please

Re: Digital Berlineta HELP!!!

google "autozone diagrams", create an account and follow the steps. They should have them all. I have the samecar, fortunatly im in the clearasfar as the dash but the omg have i stepped in it this time. The carbd. 305 in it was old and weak. so I fuel injected it with a 305 crossfireabout5 months ago. Ran good and strong. I had to replace the heater core whitch ment droping the ECM down and i left it in the floor board. Now thats not so bad right, well i have a killer audio system and litle brother decided he was gunna show it of to his friend. When he was done he left the door open and it rained. He showed another friend the system the next day and while the ECM was sitting in a POOL of water.......HE TURNED THE KEY.... SOOOOO now i am putting a tbi computer on a crossfire injection system and in a berlinetta... Maybe i should got a corvette.

Re: Digital Berlineta HELP!!!

Thanks!!!
Definitely better than a Chilton manual.
Sorry for your little brother. Each time my daughter ask me if she can have my Camaro to visit his grandma I use the equation...

(woman) + (single lane road) + (she drives a Ford Tempo) x (Camaro 2in above the ground) = NO WAY!!!

Again for the info.

Re: Digital Berlineta HELP!!!

What's the issue with the climate control electronics? Mine didn't work at all when I got it but I was able to clean the little contacts on the board behind the switches and get everything working. Member John in RI was a big source of info on the berlis too.

Contact member John in RI. He sells a complete Berlinetta electrical wiring diagnosis CD. I can restore your AC/Wiper control pod as long as the buttons are not broken by being "pushed in" all the way. I restored mine to like new function. Check out the video. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qpiICtjmTdE

Re: Digital Berlineta HELP!!!

Unfortunately I'm in the "seeking job company" and all projects are paused for a while.
The problem begins with a chain reaction, a fault ground trace in the back of the board burned leaving the circuit without ground and voltages going wild, the protection diode in the corner blows leaving the board without protection burning the transistor in the heat-sink and the control IC (the big one).
So far, removed the IC and jumped the pins going to "fan speed 3" and "front vents" with a 1K resistor just to have AC.
Right now I'm evaluating programing a PIC controller with an alternate circuit if the space permits so, or mounting a discrete 4 position switch for the fan and a 2 pin binary for the vents, it is a digital low current signal so don't have to be a big switch. the last one is the easiest but won't look original to the trained eye and less fun that push-buttons. Also removed the blue caps on the bulbs so it looks brighter.

Thanks for all the info I'll check later.

Re: Digital Berlineta HELP!!!

Sounds like you have a firm handle on the problem. No offense but why not trace down the original fault and repair it rather than augment and bandage the system? If money is an issue, those pods go for next to nothing on e-bay. Also John in RI might have one cheap. Once you get the system back to normal get in touch with me. If you send me your pod, I'll work my magic on it for you for the cost of postage. My email addy is gmjunkyard@live.com
