Car: 1984 TA 15th Anniv. Addition Engine: 355 SBC Transmission: TH350 Axle/Gears: 4.56 | Need help Troubleshooting - Low power at coil - no spark....please help..... The car is a 84 TA with a 355, T1 heads, good size cam etc etc...My ignition system is a Holley Annihilator Ignition box & a Lasershot Prostrip coil.
Yesterday, while driving my car, it seems like every time I would come to a stop, my car would want to die, I first thought it was fuel, but im getting good fuel, but I now knows its an ignition problem.
So, no spark, no running engine. When I put a test light on the positive side of the coil, turn the motor over, it gets power but the test light is very faint, like its getting a much lower then normal voltage.
Would this cause a no spark condition or is this normal?
At this point, I know the pickup in the dist. is working because its signaling the ign. box to charge the coil, so im thinking its the ign. box not sending enough power to the coil so the coil cant jump it up enough to get the spark plugs to spark?
According to this http://p-928.home.comcast.net/~p-928/199R9949-1_HP.PDF
On page 23, it says the voltage output for this ign. box is 525 volts, if that's true, it would have blown my test light correct???
Am I off base here or what??
Any other ideas?
