factory digital to aftermarket digital dash

i have an '88 t/a with the factory digital dash. the film over the speedo is peeling and chipping off. with it gone i cant see the number anymore. it hasnt gotten to the #'s yet but the mph is going. i want to know if i can get an aftermarket digital universal fit panel to work with the car. i searched and saw analog to digital swaps. and i saw just one comment that you cant put an aftermarket digital panel into a car that has factory digital. the ONE comment made me search an search and search. i dont mind custom fitting a panel just need to know if i can use one with having a factory digital one already.

this is what i was looking at

http://nordskogperformance.net/produ...&cat=11&page=1

in the install instructions is doesnt say anything about using the wires that are in the car.

http://nordskogperformance.net/manuals/DP10002_INS.pdf

the kit includes the sending units except fuel which works with factory units. you just change frequency through a dipswitch. so i was just needed to know IF i can use this with factory digital wiring in the car. any help appreciated.

Re: factory digital to aftermarket digital dash

does it at least seem like this thing should wire right in? it has been hard enough to locate a stock digital dash to replace it. they are rarely for sale. i like this panel i found and would like to buy it would just like to know if it will wire in. i think it will. dont want to spend the money if it wont work.

Re: factory digital to aftermarket digital dash

i'm no expert, but i think the reason is because the factory digital dash has completely different plugs and wiring than an analog car, and those aftermarket digital ones are made to be more plug and play into an original analog dash.

I have a couple spare factory digital clusters, PM me if interested.

Re: factory digital to aftermarket digital dash

well one the instructions you dont even use the harnesses because it is a universal fit. it say run this wire to the ignition switch and this one to the coil and this one to etc etc. so it should work right? i may be interested in a spare factory one though because i may need a temp fix till i can customize the one i want. then the factory setup can go into my wifes 86 it is analog. and yes i know i could just switch out both dashes and go from there but time permitting i dont know if that is a good idea.

Do you have a Digital AC/Heater Climate Control [push Button]? If so send me a PM of what you would want for it.
