color wire for o2 hookup?

i just recently got an 84 z28 and am in the process of cleaing it up, but the prevoius owner cut all the emmissions stuff. im hooking some of it back up, but they cut the wire to the o2.

in the wire llom with the temp sender wire (wich is green) there are the 2 wires that go the a/c clutch and one blue wire. is the blue wire the o2? if not what is the blue wire and were is the o2 wire as well as its color?

Re: color wire for o2 hookup?

O2 is usually purple, but your best bet is to use a multimeter to the terminal on the ECM connector

Several wires use the same color so identifying like that becomes... ineffective

that really doesnt help me at all. if i had some wires to test, that would be what i would propbably do. since i have no idea were the dang wire is, i have no clue where to start checking.

since no one knows where in the wire loom the 02 wire is located, im off the bone yard, hopefully there is one there i can look at for reference.

Re: color wire for o2 hookup?

THe O2 is located in the drivers side 'collector' (faces towards the front of the engine bay) and the connector should be close by (if unplugged). It is a single weatherpak connector.

I tried to take a pic but, my camera is to old/crappy for close up pictures with flash (kodak DC3200). It just washes out the picture an makes it worthless. Even PSP didn't help.

Re: color wire for o2 hookup?

because i appreciate the attemps at help, i shall refrain form going on some long diatribe.

let me try to explain this one more time.

someone cut the shiznit out of he car. its not there. there are no wires dangeling. i knowwhere the 02 sensor is, there is 1/4 of an inch of wire on it. someone cut this all the way to who knows where.

in the wire loom ,along the valve cover, are the wires for the a/c clutch and temp sender along with one mystery wire , wich is blue. i think this blue wire goes to the missing a/c high presure switch. or it could (but probably not) go to the 02. thats why i was asking what color the 02 wire is.

second since this is not likely the 02 wire i need to find where it has been cut from, so i can extend it and connect the new 02 sensor. so im asking if anyone knows where, in the massive expanses of the harness, this wire shows up so i can look for it.

i went to one junkyard yesterday and they didnt h ave anything there that was any help. if it stops raining im going to try another junk yard.

edit: went to the junkyard, and they are closed today

Re: color wire for o2 hookup?

out of about 20 third gens at the boneyard, i found one that had the 02 sensor and wiring intact. you were correct (as per the diagrams) it is purple.

it exits the main harness under the wiper motor. so tomorow i shall see if i can find it on mine.
