Door Lock Relay!!!

Help! I can't find a door lock relay for an 87 camaro to save my life, none of the auto parts stores have one, even online I have had no luck. They seem to have been discontinued? Is there a fix out there? Can I rewire to a newer like 90 model relay? Can I use something aftermarked? I need some help folks and appreciate any advice.

Re: Door Lock Relay!!!

Have you tried the junkyards? Relays are pretty much free at the JYs near me. As long as I'm paying for other stuff, they usually don't charge me for little things like relays and fuses.

You could also wire your typical run-of-the-mill 30amp relay to the original's location. Should be able to find them in the lighting/electrical section of most auto parts stores. You'll just have to make sure you get the right wires on the right terminals.

Re: Door Lock Relay!!!

Our junkyards around here are 3rd gen poor...they got rid of all those "old things" years ago, so they tell me. Anyway, thanks for the info about a regular relay, I wasnt sure If it would work or not, but I am not too far from trying it out. In fact, I think I will walk accross the road to autozone and pick me up a couple before I head home today. I will post when I try it, it should be tomorrow or the next day...

Yeah, I checked out your site already, I found one on partstrain...so I thought, placed the order and then the next day got an email saying that they were out of stock, so, gonna go to the parts house and get some regular relays and my test light out...try it that way. Thanks for looking though.
