Tach peged out

So i took out my motor rebuilt it, and just put it back in. Got pretty much everything hooked back up. I turned to the "on" position and the first thing i noticed was that the tach peged out (went all the way to 7000). I turned the ignition off and it only went down slightly (6800). Now whenever i turn the key on it pegs out. Also I haven't been able to start it as of yet. I think this could be to the dead battery and a shitty charger. Any suggestions or ideas? I was thinking about switching the connectors on the coil, but without a wiring diagram i don't wanna do that and end up frying something. Thanks for any help guys.

Re: Tach peged out

Ive had this problem before and it freaked me out lol. first get your motor running. then once its running good give it some good high revs. the tach should catch itself. Works for me everytime
