Slow start/long start...need help!

This all began when I installed my new injectors. Prior to that, the car was a perfect starter. Basically, when the car is hot, the starter cranks very slow, and eventually revs up to start the engine. When the engine is warm (a few hours after stopping) the car will crank quickly but takes 3 seconds at least to start. And in the morning or after work, when the car has been sitting for 8+ hours, it fires up extremely quick.

I can't fathom how me changing injectors could cause this. My second thought was the VATS system, but the SECURITY light goes off after 2-3 seconds. However, the long beep that begins as soon as you insert your key is sometimes broken up or won't begin for awhile. Related to VATS?

All I can think of is get a heat shield for my starter and that might fix my sloooow start issue when hot, unless I need a new starter all together. But that wouldn't fix anything with the long start which began after the injector swap.

Any ideas? This car has already stranded me once.

I would have the starter tested and go from there.
