Cruise Control in a T5 swap

I'm swapping a 1987 NWC T5 into my 91 RS which originally had an Auto. I did some searching and found some stuff about a vacuum relief switch on the brake pedal...I saw nothing like this on my car. I just have two electronic switches.

How should I wire up my cruise control to work like stock with my soon-to-be clutch pedal? Is there only 1 switch on the clutch that is used for both the cruise control and the starter safety switch? Or do I need to wire up 2 switches on my clutch pedal? (Don't have my pedals yet so I don't know what the bracket looks like)

Re: Cruise Control in a T5 swap

I don't know how others do it, but I've swapped both my cars to 5 speeds and I just wire the brake pedal for the 5 speed setup exactly like that auto setup. The bracket on the brake pedals are the same, so you just pull the switches off the auto pedal and stick them in the clutch pedal. Then the wires from the neutral safety on the auto shifter, go directly to the clutch pedal and your done.(this also makes it so you have to push the clutch to get the rear hatch to release) I don't have a cruise interlock on my clutch pedal, I don't know if these cars did from the factory or not. The problem is real easy to solve, just don't push the clutch with the cruise set LOL.

Re: Cruise Control in a T5 swap

The clutch starter safety switch is separate from the cruise switch.
The starter switch is at the bottom stroke of the clutch pedal and uses very thick wires (it carries the current that actuates the starter solenoid).

The clutch disengage switch for the cruise control is on top of the travel of the pedal, just like the brake pedal switches.

If your year/model does not have the vacuum line or the bleedoff on the brake switch, I wouldn't worry about it.
The clutch disengage switch is the same as the brake switch for the cruise control, they are both NC contacts. If you're adding it to the existing harness, you'll need to wire them up in series so that EITHER of them can interrupt the circuit.
(diagram here).

Hope this helps.
