Tach Not Working

I have a 1990 RS .Well someone really butchered the wiring on this car. Anyway my tach wasn't working so I installed another and it didn't work so I removed the cluster and the connectors in behind . The connector on the right hand of the steering wheel has a white wire coming out of it and has been cut. I can't find the other end so first of all I'm assuming this is causing my problem. Next where does this wire go to, can I run a new wire directly to the distributer?? If I can color wire would I tap into??. Any help would be appreciated. OK I removed the dash now and found this wire fried all the way back to where it goes through the firewall. any ideas??

TACH YAK

The tach wire originates from the coil (the tap of the coil which receives the B+ switching).

How bout those dorks too scared to drive without headlights on in the daytime!

Re: TACH YAK

Thanks, I followed the wire from the top of the coil then ran a new section of wire to the connector on the back of the gauge pod, tach works now.
