Re: Wiring Pictures need to identify??

The first pic is an orange wire with two white ones in it from the column.
The 2nd is a wire cluster that has a red and white leading into the shifter console and connects with like 4 wires out of it.
And the third is a aftermarketsecurity that i need to tear out.

Re: Wiring Pictures need to identify??

Pic 1 is the resistor wiring for your IGN cyl for VATS

The rest are for the alarm which usually disables the starting system

Use this to fix that mess
http://www.austinthirdgen.org/mkport...n8_starter.jpg

Here is VATS in case they messed with it too
http://www.austinthirdgen.org/mkport...m_pass-key.jpg

First, find out if the system only disables the starter
To do this, turn the key to run and use a screwdriver to bridge the starter

If the car starts and runs then the system is only a starter kill

These systems sometimes also disable the fuel pump. You can tell if the fuel pump primes or not

Re: Wiring Pictures need to identify??

hey thanks. ya i figured that the orange wires were the vats and i gutted the aftermarket alarm yesterday. Most of it was soldered into existing wires so i removed most of that but still a no go. Most likely bc i'm still looking where to plug in the vats lol. But im going to look at the sites and mess with it today and ill prolly have a few questions. So again, Thank you.

Re: Wiring Pictures need to identify??

Try this to confirm vats. Remove the drivers kick panel. you will find the starter enable relay there. bypass this by bridgeing the two large wires and see if the car cranks. Most alarms come with a resistor to use to bypass vats for. also look for a relay out of place under the dash as this id often used with the resistor to bypass the vats on remote start systems(maybe alarms too???) hope this helps. Lhated vats so I removed the system. you remove the box which is mounted to the firewall behind the dash and turn it off in the ecm with a custom chip, and remove the starter enable relay. I also wired in a kill switch for the starter

Re: Wiring Pictures need to identify??

the vats has to be pluged in for your car to start, ..... the computer reads a ohms resistance from your key and if the reading isnt there , it will shut of your starter and fuel pump

Re: Wiring Pictures need to identify??

My 91 wont sart after sitting in storage all winter. I took off the panel under the steering column and I have a brown wire just hanging that should go into the fuse box. Its the same wire you have shown in the pic. Where does it plug into?

Re: Wiring Pictures need to identify??

If it drove in there, a wire wouldnt mysteriously disconnect from storage

Start with the basics before you go wire tracing
