turn signal problem

hi guys i just recently purchased my first car an 88 camaro z28 and im having a problem with the blinkers whenever i try to turn them on (left or right) it actualy turns on the hazards instead of the blinkers anybody know what my problem could be? thanks alot

If your harness is all original and hasn't been hacked, I would first suspect the multifunction switch in the steering column.

Welcome to TGO.It sounds like it could be the turn signal switch in the column acting up. If you find out that it is we have them instock. Here's a link to them on our site.

i think i figured it out im not sure if this is how its supposed to work or not? when the hazards button is pushed in they dont come on unless i hit the turnsignal is that how theyre supposed to work? because i pulled the hasards switch out (i belive it may have been vise versa) and then the blinkers worked as they should
