Battery Connections: Terminating locations

Everything works... I replaced my battery cables ect,and fixed all the shorts I had and eventually the problem with a drained battery. After my engine swap the negative cable was bolted to the engine by means of the exhaust header bolt. I'm worried that this spot is a bad location since there is so much heat produced there. I was seeing signs of heatsoak on my previoius starter so I replaced it. Never had a problem with that starter until the engine swap(figured it was just the new headers being so close to the starter) Now, before I put this new starter to too much use,I've had a heat shield installed but I'm afraid if the negative cable connection on the motor gets too hot it will raise the resistance in the connection and cause heatsoak like conditions and poor voltage levels for everything else. Maybe that was my problem all along.

Does anyone know the proper place to connect the negative cable to chassis or engine block properly for an 88 TA?

Just make sure you use a wire brush or something to clean off all the paint and rust so you have a good solid ground.
