The “dimmer switch” (rheostat) is not in that circuit.
However on the same assembly there is a SPST contact that might not be opening.
You can disconnect it to verify.
You might have one of the dome light ground leads with rubbed-thru insulation allowing it to contact ground. Happy Racing!
