Want to put Window Rollups in my 91 RS

Window rollups let you roll the windows up or down using the alarm remote. I guess My installer said that the camaro window switches dont operate by crossing the wires like others. I was curious if anyone has them. I want them so I can put my windows down to take off the t tops.

Re: Want to put Window Rollups in my 91 RS

I'm not exactly sure what your installer means but our window switches do exactly that. The switches themselves reverse the polarity and not the motor itself. I haven't been able to successfully find a kit that works. Most of them can be installed but because of the simplicity of our systems, when you roll one window down...they both go down and up....which is a problem...

Re: Want to put Window Rollups in my 91 RS

Why is it a problem? I don't actually need the windows to move independently. LMK how to do it. I would appreciate that

Re: Want to put Window Rollups in my 91 RS

it really depends on what kit you buy/use. There are several to chose from and each one has a different way of connecting it. I bought some cheap one off ebay and it turned out that by the time you were done connecting the unit, one switch (no matter which one; left or right) controlled both windows. Normally I wouldn't care, but its my daily driver and if I'm at a fast food drive thru in the rain, I don't want my passenger getting wet while I order...

What doyou mean? the windows will not move independently even with the switches?

I have an AST Rollup module going to a series 80 alarm. Well it's not in yet but that was the plan.

I could probably add a bunch of relays to it to make it work, but my concern with that is that I am pretty sure the unit senses the change in current when the window hits top or bottom and shuts off. Adding relays may dissable this feedback making the unit burn out or burning out the window motor. Maybe the DEI kit has a way to account for this but it would be a $50 part to find out and we are stuck with it if its the same problem. Also the AST window modules appear to only do window roll up. DEI kits can be ordered for just up or for up and down..
Any other options, Ideas?

Re: Want to put Window Rollups in my 91 RS

well, I always wanted to try the Directed Electronics window modules (since I got a knock-off from ebay). Here are two by them, although I'm not sure what the performance difference is...1 2

*edit* another option what would be completely do-able, but a bit tideous is to swap out the GM-Fbody window motors and put in ones from a different manufacturer. Like and import or Ford, that way you get the motor that is negative at rest...(I'm assuming this is a 3 wire motor)...

haha, I guess not then... I guess the simplicity of our GM motors makes it difficult for aftermarket companies...
