Ignition Questions

I am planning on completely upgrading my ignition system. I am interested in this kit from summit...http://www.summitracing.com/parts/CMB-06-0015/

Now, what is the difference between digital and analog circuitry? Can a weak, stock ignition system really hurt 1/4 mile performance? MSD has a new digital 6AL-2 versus rebuilding my old faulty 6AL. The dyno guy says my stock HEI is holding my engine way back. Think this would be the way to go?
