I have done a search for this, but my situation is a little different.I have had my '92RS for about a year and a half. The hatch has always opened and closed properly, both with the console switch and the key.The other day my wife calls me at work to tell me that my rear cargo light is on (dome light is off as it should be).I tell her to simply press down on the hatch to see if it goes out. It dosen't.Then I told her to open the hatch and then shut it.Goes inside, hits the console switch, nothing.Goes around the back, uses the key and it opens. Now it won't close.I told her to throw some old tires on it so it kinda closes;all the while the cargo light is on.The next day I go to tinker with the thing.I fiddled with the plastic stop switch and got the motor to go up and down a few times (with the familiar click), then it wouldn't do it anymore.Go to the fuse box, remove the fuse,it's good, put it back in and whirrr the motor is in the up position and close the hatch normally.I'm a genius! NOT! The cargo light is STILL ON.The console switch still dosen't work so I open it from the back, disconnect the bulb and close it.Uh-uh.Dosen't close. So I do the fuse pulling trick and no go.To the left of the hatch motor, wrapped up in about three feet of electrical tape is a relay, five prong and about an inch square. This relay is fairly warm (the motor is warm but not as much as the relay)so I disconnect it.Three of the five prongs are discolored, seemingly due to heat.I reconnect the relay and whirrrrr the motor is in the up position.I figure I've found the culprit and will replace it later.Go to close the hatch, it closes, but now the motor WON'T STOP RUNNING!WTF!!So I disconnect the fuse and call it a day.I'm sorry if this post is too wordy;I just want to give you as accurate a picture as possible. Thanks for reading this and thank you in advance your help.
