first off, bump^^. second, i think i found the problem. it was originally an electronic controlled distributor and now i have a vacuum advance. . im thinking that the problem could be no power to the coil, because the guy i got the dist. from said that he tested it and it worked fine.. any ideas?

First you need to check the Coil for power. Unless it is in the distributor. There should be a plug with like 4 wires that go into it. Take a volt meter and check to see if the coil has any power. Then go to www.autozone.com and get a wiring diagram. it is free to sign up. check the ECU and see if you have power coming out of the ECU. If you don't then you may have a Bad Compute.

Disturbing Distributor

The coil gets power from a PINK 12 AWG wire which comes from the ignition switch which goes to a 2 pin connector in the engine compartment, that 2 pin connector plugs into the distributor.
