87 trunk latch wont close

Hi, i just bought a 87 firebird hatchback with the carbed 305. There are a few thing wrong with it, like the drivers side floor board is rotting out(only rotting on the car at all, weird huh). With that i was wondering if they sold pieces that can be weilded in or do i have to fab one also the trunk hatch latch wont go down. the guy ripped all ot the wire harnesses apart and i was wondering if theres a diagram for those or if some body wanted to sell me one for cheap. Ill have pics soon thanks

Floor It

Yes they do sell them.

You can bang one out but buying is faster.

Make sure you go beyond the rusted out area with overlap.

Happy Racing!

How bout those nervous nellies too scared to drive without headlights on in the daytime or if there is a little rain!

Re: 87 trunk latch wont close

The floor board is rotted out most likely by a windsheild leak. My 92 leaks and has ruined the carpet only on the drivers part. Also, some t-tops leaks run down the a-pillar and to the carpet. The hatch motor is shown on Hawks site, with all the relays attached that can be enlarged, that might help.
