headlight motors being freakin stupid

Ok, headlights were working fine last night on the formy, they were both going up and down freely. This morning however, I go to hit the lights, only the drivers one pops up and nothing from the other one. I have replaced both in the past so I know that when one goes bad, the knob on it spins like crazy, but this didn't happen here. No response from the passenger side motor, and the light on that side does come on, it's just shining downwards. Can someone tell me what the heck is wrong here?

Have you tested to see if it is getting any power? Just unplug the headlight motor and put a volt meter on the car side of the plug. Have someone flip on the headlights and see if you have any power going to the headlight. If not, it may be that the headlight module died.

With the headlights switched on, try tapping on the headlight module and see if it goes up. I had a similar problem, and it wound up just being dirty relay contacts inside the module. I took it apart and cleaned the contacts, and it's been working fine since. The module is on the drivers side of the firewall, near the relays, it looks like this:

Re: headlight motors being freakin stupid

Thanks for the replies. I will try out the suggestions tomorrow. I just got home from work (took the fiero to work) and it is dark outside. I will give an update in the morning. That would be weird if it was the module because one headlight works and the other doesn't. The driver's one flips up ok. I don't get it. I'll see what happens tomorrow.

the headlights don't pop up with the parking lights on. I'll see about testing for power when the sun comes up.
