Couple questions on C100 bulkheads???

I have two harnesses, 87 v6 tpi that im trying to strip down for my carb 350 and I want to believe an 87 carb harness that i got from someone else. It states in the c100 bulkhead schematics from 85-87 that F7 should be Lt. green coolant temp wire, Neither of these harnesses have a wire or pin out for F7 Also F8 is a brown wire I have, but the schematic states "not used" what is that for? Im sorry but last question, F5 and F6 are fuel injection wires, Can I use them for anything else?

Re: Couple questions on C100 bulkheads???

Okay, Two days later and With NO HELP or ADVICE from anyone here I got my motor wired up. Still missing "coolant temp" wire, there is no wire and no plug in bulkhead connector on the fire wall OR on the harness, I checked 4 different harnesses- NONE of them have a "coolant temp" wire in slot F7, SO i guess a pillar gauge is in order here. The only thing I can't figureout is the Fan, Where are thous wires? I have one pig tail coming off the headlight harness, Is that the fan??

Re: Couple questions on C100 bulkheads???

Here's a C100 plug schematic from the 87 shop manual:

http://berlinetta.info/media/shopman...00Camaro87.jpg

Coolant temp wire is DARK GREEN on F5
The Alternator plug wire ( Brown ) is located on F8

Seems like you might be using the wrong schmatic; Probably from an 85 shop manual ?? I Hope that the 87' C100 shematic gets you thru your wiring project !

P.S. Sometimes it's better to wait and get the right answer rather than a quick reply that leads you down the wrong path !

Re: Couple questions on C100 bulkheads???

Thanks John! I think I was using an 85, it didnt state the year. This matches my harness much better. On the schematic I was using F5 stated MPFI so I just tied it back in the loom. My car was originaly V6 LT, now its a 350 carb. Will this work for my temp? I really appreciate the help!!!

No Problem !!

That Dark Greren at F5 is the one you want. Just add some length. put a terminal on it and connect that sucker to the temp sending unit on the side of your block - DONE !

Re: Couple questions on C100 bulkheads???

It worked!! Thanks Again!, I have one more problem maybe you could help me with,
The AC delete box, I originaly had the AC setup, That has been eliminated and i bought an ac delete box that came with the harness (yellow, orange, blue wires) What color wires do I hook to on the old AC harness coming out of the fire wall? The colors are the same but some are different gauge like the blue wires.

When I swap stuff I always swap everything.... others have told me that a AC harness and resistors can be used on a Non-AC box. Try it and see what happen before you begin splicing !

P.S. I just got tru re-building a 91 RS and NON of teh gauges worked when I started. I just got the last one figured out last week. It really is cool to have fully functional gauges - isn't it !

Re: Couple questions on C100 bulkheads???

Yhea It always make the end result more professional, thats Great Congrats on the good work!!! I don't have the original resistor anymore, It got sold with the AC stuff,
I read somewhere on here yesterday that someone hooked it up color to color and they get Hi & Lo, I will give that a try today, I would like to check out your project, As soon as I get some small probs worked out and my front clip back on I will post some pics up here. Oh yhea One other wire that has me stumped, There is a 2 prong/2wire plug on the headlight harness coming out above the steering box (brown and green or brown and blue) i believe, Any idea what this is for? Some one told me maybe part of the cruise? I checked it with a test light and cant seem to get power from anything.

Power steering pressure sensor. It lets the ECM know when you get a spike in pressure so it can bump engine speed to prevent stalling

Your carb wont care and have no provision for such things, ignore it or cut it out

Re: Couple questions on C100 bulkheads???

Pocket nailed it,........ I think that pressure switch was AC related. No need for that enymore !

If you want to check out a couple pics - I have some here:

http://www.berlinetta.info/mypics.htm

I need to update the RS page as most of the work has been done in the last couple months. The Engine, Tranny, Rear End, Suspension, Steeriing, Exhaust, Electrcial, and Brakes are done. The interior is almost finished and the body work will need to wait until the winter is over. I just got the power window conversion completed yesterday and took the car for a drive this morning,...... It's really starting to "shape-up" !
