92 wont start sometimes A/T

ok so the problem is sometimes it wont start i turn the key on i can hear the fule pump then turn the key to start and nothing happens. it got me stuck in the rain for 2 hours last night trying to get it to start tried everything checked all the fuses, pulled the place off around the shifter and checked the plugs there, pulled it in nutral tried to start it shoved it pack in park and tried again even tried every gear and nothing, so then got under the hood and crossed the started with the key on and it just turned over and no start. after sitting in the car wet and freezing for another 30 min i hit the key and it started up. its happened about 4 times before, it seems to happen after the key has been turned back for awile.

my starter is fine and my battery is good

has anyone had this problem? any advice for a fix?

thanks

Your problem is consistent with poor/dirty connections at the starter.

Remove all wires, with sandpaper make all the terminals look as clean as they did in 1992.

Reassemble and cover the deal with marine protectant.

Happy Racing!

Re: 92 wont start sometimes A/T

Sounds like you have a problem with the VATS system. I had the same problem with my iroc a long time ago. Everything would turn on but when you turn the key to crank and start, nothing would happen. Then I would wait for a perioid of time, it would then crank and start. I just bypassed my VATS system, but it is usually caused with the contacts in the ignition cylinder for the resistor pellet on the key.
