I just installed a Clifford Matrix 1X alarm in my car, and added a DEI 508D motion/proximity sensor. I got the alarm installed just fine, hooked up the power locks and hatch release. The only trouble I'm having now is with adjusting the motion sensor. Right now I pretty much have it with the outer zone adjusted all the way up, and the inner zone all the way down. It seems a little inconsistent though - sometimes it will warn if I get within a couple feet of a window, and sometimes I have to get right up in the window. Is there a technique to adjusting it, or is it just trial and error? Also, where is the best place to mount the motion sensor? Right now it's under the console, right behind the shifter.

Well, I did find this guy's page, after some searching on google. It's a 4th gen, but I have the same center console. I think I'm going to try mounting it here, and see if it's more consistent.

i put mine in the center console in front of the shifter. it works pretty efficiently there. tuning it just requires setting it high and turning it down until it doesn't false on you anymore. on mine if you look in the window it beeps and if you reach in it goes off. however the way its turned the hatch doesn't get a good signal, i actually have been reaching in there without beeps

I moved it to the armrest like the link I posted, and adjusted the sensitivity down some, and it seems a little more consistent now. I'm actually thinking my side window tint is having an effect though. I'm pretty sure it's metallic tint, so it would make sense. I have to get right up in a side window to get it to chirp, but if I stand behind the car, within a foot or so of the bumper it chirps. I guess whenever I get around to re-doing my side tint, I'll make sure and get non-metallic.

well you gotta understand the signal is sent in an oval fashion. so imagine the sensor is in landscape position, it'll have a zone that's landscape, so shorter signal up and down and longer zone side to side. so i mounted mine portrait style in the console. i have dark metallic tint on the hatch, and some cheap tint on the sides so that might make a difference. seems like yours is turned up a little high if you're getting a warn signal behind the car. having to be right up to the window to get a warn is a good place because in parking lots people are going to pass your car, you only want to warn those looking in at your stereo. hows your trigger set? try reaching in with the window down and test the warn with the window down. still think it should be turned down a little on the warn because when you have the window rolled down i bet it'll increase its effect

try mounting it in your middle vent, i once had a small 130db alarm siren in mine
