car alarm hatch release feature
Hey all,
I have an aftermarket alarm (no major name brand), and I am trying to hook
up the last portion of connections. The one I am working on now is to control the remote hatch release.
I have located the hatch release relay and have the a wire connected to
it to activate it. My alarm system says I need another relay and that the
alarm output wire is positive (+10A), and most of the information that I have
seen on the boards here is for a negative output connection.
Do any of the electronics gurus here have an idea of how I can connect this
thing up??????????
Craig
PS Forgot to mention (if necessary), 1990 gta with power hatch release
stock on vehicle.

Hey Craig, if you know you have found the correct wire, you can simply check to see if it has 12 volts or ground when operating the factory trunk release switch. You say your alarm system says you need another relay so, you get yourself a SPDT relay 30 amp (like this one for example http://www.amazon.com/VDC-Automotive.../dp/B0002KR9GG) wire the alarm output wire to terminal 85 on the relay. Wire terminal 86 to ground. Wire terminal 30 to either 12 volts or ground depending on what your vehicle needs. Finally wire terminal 87 to your hatch release wire. Leave terminal 87a blank
P.S. Do yourself a favor and buy a relay socket too. It will make your life easier.
