Hi everyone. Maybe i just haven't found them but it seems that we don't have a very good library of wiring diagrams here on TGO. I for one would like to remedy that. I have the Electrical Diagnosis Suppliment for my 87 Camaro and would gladly scan the entire thing and upload so that it could be added to the tech articles for referrence by all members. If those who have the Helms manual for their cars of other years would be willing to do the same, we would soon have a complete library of wiring diagrams. I'm constantly referring members to wiring diagrams as part of assisting them with diagnosis of trouble on their cars. Having access to factory diagrams right here on TGO would be a great help. If the moderator could chime in on this. Is there any reason this couldn't be done?
This site has a REALLY good list of diagrams. The diagrams are for 90-92 cars, but most of the older stuff is similar enough to get someone started http://www.austinthirdgen.org/index.php?pid=19
If someone will host the diagrams, Ill upload all 82-92 from AllData and my 92 service manual
Hey Pocket, Thanks for your response. Yeah, I have that link saved for quick referrence but it sucks having to go to another forum to get diagrams. Plus, the diagrams there are more on the level of Mitchell's, not like those in the Factory Electrical diag manual. Im going to look into scanning my book today. It would be great if you could do the same. Alldata would be cool too.
I've noticed that, at least for the extra 1992 particular diagrams at the bottom of that link, that they ARE the Alldata diags - over the years I've checked both (when something didn't make sense and I thought Alldata might sow it different) - but always they are the same.

I noticed this when I looked today. Their 90-92 diags are much better than the earlier stuff. I haven't worked with All-Data for a while. I do remember their diagrams being better than Mitchell's. Mitchell is pretty good on newer stuff but their diags for most third gens aren't much better than pencil drawings. The Helm's Electrical diagnosis supplement has excellent detailed color diagrams for each system, showing all splices and locations.
Here is the first diagram from my factory electrical diagnosis manual. I hope it turns out well. I thought it scanned well. If it turns out, I'll do more tomorrow.
wow thats a good picture. now if you have them for the 1992 camaro it would be perfect for me and others. if you can get a bunch of diagrams hopefully they would make it a sticky.
I have 87 covered. Over the next few weeks, I'll upload this entire book if I can. I hope others will jump on board with diagrams for other years. Wouldn't it be great to have this quality diagram for every system on 82-92, right here on thirdgen.org
Just ran into one diagram that's too big to download via attachment. Anyone know how I should up load this diagram?
Edit: I have the three remaining power distribution diagrams for 87 ready to upload but they are all too big to be attachments. HELP?
How about using a photobucket page, then the large images will be "out there", and the smaller thumbs can be included "in here". As long as you never get rid of the photobucket account, it'll always be "out there" somewhere.
{sounds like I'm a little "out there" myself, huh?}
You have to be dead in the water for quite some time, say 6 months before it becomes an issue. Then you just sign in again and the account comes back. No big deal for heavy posters but some people switch hobbies and it becomes a problem like most tech articles 3-5 years old
If this turns out like I'm hoping it will, it will become a complete library of quality diagrams for 3rd gens from 82-92 and should get plenty of use. Plus it will allow those of us with books to not wear our expensive books out looking up diagrams for other people. Im committed to scanning all diags from my factory manual. I hope those with other years will do the same.
But - just o others know ... you have to click on the thumbnail, then you get the pic in a small JAVA-type window that you can't see too well. BUT - if you click that window, you get a full-sized new IE window with a magnifying glass zoom tool - that's when it's beautiful!
Great Job!
Before you get carried away, I'd make a list of what's already availabl;e at austinthirdgen.org - that way your not spending your time making duplicates of what we already have. Especially on the 1992 stuff - almost everything has been scanned in for 1992 by BigBadLou already - be a shame for you to waste your time duplicating.
In the end, we can link the entire compilation of your scans and BigBadLou's into one large wiring diag article. Send JT a PM and let him know what your doing, so he can get YOUR scans permanently located on the TGO servers - that way we don't have to worry about your photobucket (or whatever) account ever going dead after your gone.
I only have diags for 87 Camaro. They are all from the Helms Publishing Electrical Diagnosis Suppliment. It came with the Helms Factory Shop Manual. I'm relying on others to come on board with diagrams for other years. I saw what you mean about austin having much better diagrams for 90-92. I will PM JT about helping me put together a library. Thanks for your support.
Diagrams and flowchart for idle air control circuit on 87 Camaro. The same basic design is used on EFI 3rd gens and many other GM products so the flow chart will apply to all years of 3rd gens. I do not remember if wire colors changed.
If you guys need a perminent spot to host them I would put in a specific section for them? We already have a couple hundred wiring diagrams (Mostly EFI stuff) 600 .bin and over 200 definition files. So let me know if you want a specfic area or just post them up there in the phot gallerey.

Excellent Eagle Mark, I'll get to work scanning and uploading my diagrams. As you receive them, can you put them all in one index so that they are easier to search through?

Sure. That's what I was asking? What would you like it named? I will put the floder you name in the wiring diagrams. Then you can upload them there whenever you want. Have to go through the registration process to upload. Not hard, just like any forum, have to respond to email.
You mean help or you mean you want me to do it? Help dong it is so simalar to here, me doing it email me the diagrams all you want and I will do a batch upload. eaglemarkyou@gmail.com. My email usually take 2 or 3 big files. Or you could zip them all?
OK I thought I save you same time and I started downloading diagrams loaded in this thread. They are not named with information as to what they are. So me upploading them to the site would be worthless for everyone because they could not see what they are. You are going to have to do it and for each one list what it is. there is a spot for title and another spot for description so everyone will know what they are. without that everyone will have to download every file and look at it and find out what it is. That puts an overload on server and stresses out the user trying to find what they are.
If you can upload them here you can figure out how to upload them there. Just a little differant not quite as easy as the layout for uploading is more specific for phot and document uploading. In the end it will be such a great improvement and well worth your time.'
If time is your issue just do a few a day. After you upload one and see it uploads the way you want then move on to uploading a few and see if they come out tha way you want and you will become fimilar with the upload process and you will be uploading them in batches at a very easy pase.
Thanks Eaglemark, I di try to label the diagrams in the filenames. I realise that anyone but myself would probably have a hard time deciphering that. I am giving the diagrams titles as I upload them to DIY. I'll play with that some more today and see what I figure out. It took me some time just to get this far using TGO's server. It was months before I learned how to start a thread.
I'm not putting enough time into this project. I had hoped to have entire 87 diagram library online by now. I will find time next week and do several more pages. These last few pages from the "Big Book" Helm's manual on HEI operation and diagnosis would go well on DIY EFI if we don't already have them there. Once I have all of the diagrams and location lists online, I'll follow with all of the diagnostic flow charts. They are very educational, even for those with other EFI systems.
What we learn after years of working on various brands, is that they are all based on the same principles and most even follow the same basic design.
I have some 82 wiring diagrams to add . I had to grayscale the scans because the highlighter I used would turn black under b&W If you can use them. here they are
Awesome Bronk! That's what this thread is for. I understand that TGO can't necessarily host a complete library copied from printed manuals. I'm still using this thread to provide information for specific requests. I am currently working to create a complete library on the EagleMark forum to which I have the link above. If you want to take the time to help us with this, feel free to post diagrams to that site. Thanks!
I'll try a straight to this site upload tonight it was a little late last night when i finally got around to it. and not really happy with the results the pics get pixelated over 150 zoom. i think it's from the downsizing that the photobucket does., So I'll try again tonight.
What a pain it is trying to splice a 1990 Chevy G20 engine harness with an 83 Z28 dash board harness :S I have 8 wires left to be figured out, Im sure 2 of them is for the water temp and oil pressure. There is one green wire coming from the car that has 8 volts coming from it. Could this be the old oil pressure sensor wire? I could check myself but the suns down :/
