Key Off: RPM's won't go down.!
Ok. When I have my engine running say 1000 RPM's. It will idle yah know, whatever. And then when I turn my key off the RPM gauge dosen't go down to 0. It stays at whatever RPM's it was at when I turned the key off. Until, I turn the key back to ready position the RPM's stay up. When I put it to ready position they go back down to 0. Any thoughts?

The video I posted was for my buddy Mark. He can't diagnose the problem. Ignore the other stuff that's in the video just watch my gauges.

Mine does the same, along with the other gauges. It's common I think

Re: Key Off: RPM's won't go down.!
It's because when you turn the key off, there is no power going to the gauges, so they just sit where they were last at with power on.
You could put new gauges in that arent old as **** and probably worn out, or you can just deal with it, haha.

Re: Key Off: RPM's won't go down.!
Why not just turn the engine off, turn the key back on to reset the gauges, then turn the key back off?
Or you could just run a kill switch for the engine so that you can leave the key on and kill the engine so you can watch your gauge go back down to 0

Wouldn't that hurt my engine? Cuz I have a engine killswitch.

How do you think the engine turns off now? You cut out the ignition, the engine turns off. Whether you use a kill switch, or the ignition switch it doesn't matter.

I have an old chapman lock on it. its great haha. But, like my voltage gauge and all the other ones go back down to 0. Why not my RPMs?

Its really weird because then the RPM gauge goes back up a little to like 500 RPM's.

Because it was inexpensive to build the movement that way and nobody has any reason to care what the gauge reads when the car is off.

You could get a 12volt timer say that would stay on 5 seconds after power was cut off and run that power wire to gauges.
