I am gauging interest in my tranmission because i am going to do a 4L80 swap in my ls1 thirdgen. The trans is a 700r4 with a tci full manual valve body, tci 2200-2400 stall, beast sunshell, upgraded clutches, new pump, full synthetic flluid used. The trans was also converted to a non-lock-up so there are no wires to hook up and with the manual vavle body there is no tv cable. So all you have to do is hook up the shifter cable, great for a retro conversion or just an upgrade over stock.
I have over $1200 just in parts not including the labor cost(which was another $500). The trans is still in the car and only has 4000 miles on it since it was built. The place that built it said they have built the same trans to go in up to 550hp cars. The trans has always worked great and the shifts are very stout. My car dropped for a 13.0 to a 12.5 when i had this trans built. Great for an upgrade and easy to install (no wiring or tv cable to adjust). Shoot me some offers.

I would be very interested in this. You say it will handle 550hp, what hp is your motor rated? Mine is 520 "at fly wheel", so If that is correct that would work out for me greatly. How much are you looking to get for it and where are you located? Let me know man, and thanks.

I am located in moline, IL. I think i would have to get $1100 out of it. I saw monster transmission is selling basically the same tranny (they say 500hp rated) for about $1100 but with no converter. I have a 6.0L ls motor and i think its about 475 hp to the flywheel and the trans has been nothin but perfect. It would be great to find someone that could come pick it up because then you could keep the 100 dollars worth of royal purple thats in it but i can ship it if someone would pay for it.
just a bump for ya, I've got a very similar TCI set up in my '85 and absolutely love it. Definitely made a big impact with performance and mpg for me compared to the slushy shift from the stock 700r4.
Haven't heard much about a manual conversion of the 700r4 so can someone explain the shifting, do you just shift at your redline rpm for every gear? do you need to shift in sequence or just go from 1 to 3, 1 to 4? what's the advantage over a regular manual if any. Later.
90 and 94, They are SBC style so no top bolt hole but they still bolt to GEN III engines
Both are fine, 90 was a replacement for a no reverse condition. Problem ended up being in the wiring to the trans not the trans itself
94 is off a wrecked diesel

With a full manual you can shift when ever you feel like it. You can for example start in second gear or like you said go from 1 to 3. But you still have to breifly pass through the gear. The full manual is nice because many shift kit dont shift at the rpm you want at the track or stay in first way to long and jerk into second a part throttle. Where with the full manual you can shift into second early and still get nice brutal shifts at the rpm you want a the track.
i might be interested, is it a standerd or reverse shift patern. who built the tranny? im in the QCA also so id kinda like to take a look at it and could sumbody maybe put a regular valve body back in it. dont know if i want to shift it all the time?
