| Re: Vortec Heads drilled for 87-92 intake The Edelbrock Vortec TPI Intake is made for Vortec Heads and would fit without any modifications. I took an 87-92 intake and welded and modified the ports so that they were taller, basically the Vortec port is narrow and tall where the older common style heads are wider and shorter. When a normal intake is layed over the heads the intake ports are too tall and there wouldn't have been enough gasket sealing surface. If you don't have access to a machine shop and a tig just use the edelbrock aftermarket intake made for these, either bolt pattern can be used. These heads will fit any small block chevy, both 2 pc and 1 pc rear main seal blocks except for the 90's LT1's. They would fit any carb manifold but again it would have to be a Vortec specific bolt pattern intake or an 87-92 Q-Jet intake with modified ports. They have 64cc Fast Burn chambers and 170cc intake ports with 1.94 intake and 1.5 exhaust stainless valves. I flowed these heads back when I was in college and they flow 230 cfm at .500 lift@ 28 in. There is nothing wrong other then it needing valve seals, very cheap and very easy to install. I used these heads back before the Edelbrock Vortec TPI intake was available! These heads with a decent dual pattern cam will really help wake up your L98!
