I've had a couple of T5's shipped to me. The one guy used a long cardboard box. He put thick styrofoam under the trans and lots of bubble wrap. He also put the trans in a clear, plastic bag to keep any fluids from leaking into the box. Worked out pretty good. I'd recommend FedEx Ground. They're pretty reasonable. It usually runs about $70 give or take depending on where it's going. DHL seems like a decent company too. Personally, I avoid UPS. They're overpriced most of the time, and I've had problems with them several times with lost or damaged items. They're very callous and unhelpful when there is a problem (i.e. their customer service sucks!). I once bought a Muncie 4 speed from a guy in Vegas, and he just wired the shipping tag on one of the mounting ears and shipped it bare! I came home and found it sitting in my driveway just like that. Lol. Luckily, it made the trip just fine.

You absolutely do not need to use freight for a T5. UPS and Fedex have maximum weights of around 125 lbs. The T5 is around 75 lbs. I just take a piece of plywood or particle board that has the same size footprint as the T5, strap it down using strapping or the fiber reinforced packing tape, then stick it in a box that fits the trans just barely, and put stuffing around it.
