I find it funny that you wanted a bid to happen and now you still have a set price. I now it seems like a rip but did it ever occur to you that you have had this on here for over a year and it hasn't sold? I think the first part of this post f'd it up. I could easily take a stock 400 and say there is such and such on the inside but there isn't. There wasn't documentation so it kind of is a shot in the dark. I don't know, that's what I was thinking and maybe other people can chime in why they don't bid.
And racing geek, you outbid me, so if he decides to take whatever the highest bid is, you would win. Although you might want to think about offering at the very least $2500.
With the way the economy is right now, unemployment at over 20% in some regions, and gold creeping up to $1350 per ounce, I can't see alot of people wanting an engine that costs literally two or maybe three months of pay. There are some of us that have a secure job and we know that we could never lose it, like me, and work for a place that could never go out of business but then it's us that already have a hot engine in our car already. I hope you do sell the engine, and I hope you get a decent amount for it, but I would start posting it on alot of other places.
Just because I have had something for sale for awhile doesnt mean Im going to knock off $2,300 just to let it go. Im sorry. If you were were selling this you would tell me that you would sell the whole motor for $500 or whatever your bid or your buddy's was?? I dont think so.
You said it right there, With the **** economy... Im sure thats why the motor is still for sale. Just a FYI... If I was trying to hide anything on whats inside the motor would I post all kinds of pictures, part numbers? Like I said before, Im not hiding anything, I will post any picture give any information on the motor, and post any numbers on whatever part anyone likes.
There are prlenty o fpeopel who would like the motor, but they dont have the extra money to spend. I can understand that. The motor will stay for sale until I fins somene with the extra money.
Again, Im sorry Im not goin to get rid of something I padi a decent amount for, for nothing. $2,800 takes it. If they bid isnt $2,800 no motor.
Bid isnt $1,500 for shortblock or heads complete, no shortblock or heads.
not to hijack you thread, but i have a car with a 406 sbc with like 300 miles on it that i was gonna get and part the car and sell motor.. now i'm not sure that i'm gonna try. is it just that nobody has money.? tire kickers? wow

If you still have it in a month or two I may be interested. Christmas has taken the majority of my cash on hand... I'd like to know all the details though. Reciepts and all to include if the crank is in fact forged.

Tire kickers and no one can afford to spend the money.

The crank is indeed forged. if you look at the photos, you can see the parting line on the crank.
What other details would you like to know? I have reciepts for when I bought the motor, and the heads.

Do you have any idea why an engine builder would put a extremely high dollar american made forged carnk in, and then put in a set of GM pink rods and TRW pistons. That is wild. The crank is worth more than the rods and pistons together. It does nobody anygood to have a bulletproof crank, only to break a stock rod and destroy it anyhow.

Im not sure, I didnt buy the parts for the engine. I bought it from a guy who had family medical issues and had to sell it. Then it was torn down, looked over and put back together with new bearings, rings, line honed, pressure tested, and decked.
From the time I have had it, I havent had one issue with it. My machineist didnt see any problem with the setup Saying that the bottom end will be destroyed is highly unlikely unless someone doesnt tune it properly for N20.

Umm.. For a manual trans?
Stock cranks go long before pistons and rods do on manual trans cars.
Blown 346, did you get my PM? I didn't get a PM back. What did my guy say? I'm surprised he didn't do anything for you, maybe I need to get ahold of him myself.

Maybe stock cranks, We are not talking about a scat cast or forged crank with stock rods, but a COLA crank, probably a 1000 dollar crank like they use in sprint cup to turn 9000 rpm for 500 miles. A crank good for 9000 rpm and stock gm pink rods, something fishy there!

These cola cranks with the larger 400 mains are $575 new:

I got the pm and then my IP address got banned for a few days for some reason. I will give him a call tomorrow now that I can get into my PM's.
I didnt buy the crank, the roda or the pistons like I stated a few posts back. The original owner did this setup. I honestly dont see an issue with it, and I have never had a problem.
On motor I dont see a problem with this setup. If Nitrous is being used, as long as the engine is tuned properly there wont be an issue.
If you dont plan on buying the engine, why post what you think it should be or shouldnt be?
I tried my best to help blown 346 sell this engine, I even referred him to a guy that can move engine quickly but I don't think he even called him to see what my buddy could do. From here, I would say either blown 346 is over estimating the engine or isn't really wanting to sell it. I don't know what is going on but I tried to help and that is as far as I am willing to go. OP, good luck on sale and maybe when the economy picks up, you will sell it, but somehow I doubt it.
I don't think you are qualified to judge his motor for anything other than your own preference to purchase or not, and if you are not interested in buying then you are simply violating the rules criticizing his sale. Move along to the next thread.

Very well, my influence here has been negative and I will refrain from any further posts.
Bart, I don't think anyone should hold back their opinions, we get alot of new guys on the forums as either guests or new members and they need to here opinions from some of us that have experience. The seller of any item is of course going to show lots of positives but hardly any, if any negatives, and that shows the sale as one sided. That is why we have so many negative posts on the buyer feedback section, because new guys get ripped off so easily.
I wouldn't hold back an opinion as long as you are not trashing his thread saying something like "that thing is worthless" or "that thing is junk" or the such. Opinions are needed in a forum and can help sell an item, bottom line is, he has had it for a year and people need to understand why. Your opinion is like a guess of why the engine hasn't sold yet. That is feedback for the seller to think about.

I talked to your buddy the other day. He said he would give out my number to help try and move it.

I have stated the negatives about the motor... Those being it needs a new intake manifold gasket... Other than that I have been honest with my answers of what the motor is, the Estimated Power that it should be making to run the 11.65 @117. Im not tryng to talk the motor up to be something its not, just what it is. I would think all the pictures I took of it would prove that im not trying to sell a paper weight.
I might even take a video of me turning the motor over to show it is mechanically rotatable by hand with the pan off if anyone wants to see that.
I sold my car here from a member that lives in Pennsylvania sight unseen. He stated the car just as described, and he drove it hours back from Illinois back home with no issue. I even drove 2 hours to pick him up from the airport. Let alone my sales from this forum, needlees to say I dont sell engines often, but my other feedback recieved has shown that I am honest and I go out of my way to make the buyer happy at all costs.
