So I am posting this thread to see how many people would want a 12 bolt posi rear end for their 82-92 camaro/firebird for an affordable price? I have one that was used in my 1983 Sport coupe. I custom Fabricated and aligned all mounts so it fits exactly in the same spot as the original 10 bolt. I am a certified welder and have the time to custom build these. If anyone is interested please let me know. Thanks
Where do i send the check?Seriously!!!OR paypal!!!

yes these include axles, posi units, gears, and drums. Price depends on what you want in the rearend. I am currently taking orders, price depends on what you want in the rearend. Pm me for more details. thanks
IF these are 12 bolt chevy car rears and not truck or bop, that's a steal. Heck, I think there'd even be a market for bolt in 8.5 10 bolts at that price.
The ten bolts from 70-81 camaro's are almost as strong as a 12 bolt. They are still very plentyfull and they accept almost any brake set-up you want. We ran them back in the day and I can't remember any of them breaking.

Are you talking a one-shot deal or are you considering building these for purchase? I think if you build a jig and accept shipments of customer's bare housings, you could have yourself a nice little business especially if your service included welding in an adjustable lower contol arm mount...one with several holes. How did you fabricate the torque arm mount?
well, the whole idea came up when I had a big block in my 83 SC, I didnt want to pay 2500 bucks just for a rear end. Needless to say, I got laid off from work and have all these tools to fabricate stuff, so I figured doing this for people would help keep some food on the table. I made my own universal torque arm mount, I will post some photos in a couple days. Thanks
Very intrested. I would like to see some pics of your work. A housing would be great for me. I'm in if they look the part. You might have a little enterprise on your hands. You should post this info on LS1tech site.
well, I think I need to see how many I can make before actually marketing it, lol, Im only one man.I am also trying to make my own sub frame connectors that tie the front uni-body to the rear section of the Uni-body, got it about half done, doesnt look too bad, will pretty much make it a full frame car.
I am also interested.....I am with an F-body club in idaho...and there are quite a few of us that have talked about this already....if you can actually do this a bunch of us will be interested.....keep us up to date....put some pics as soon as you get some if you could please...look foward to it...
As soon as you get pics of the housing let me know man I am ready. Just spit all the teeth out of my 7.5. Got it all back together but its only a matter of time. Like mentioned above the 8.5 10 bolt is just as good. I have freinds that run nines with the tires in the air when they leave and they have yet to break. I have actually seen more 9 inch housings break than the little 8.5. Just something tho keep in mind.
I think the disc brake setup can bolt to either axel...it bolts up like the backing plate on a drum setup with the 4 holes on the axel..so I think they should all be interchangable if the axel is set up correctly....but I could be wrong of course...
Man, this sounds great, I'd take the 12 Bolt with Disc, that'd be even greater! Please let me know when you get one available for a 91 Bird, and I'll pay $600 and shipping
sounds like a great deal, for you guys close to him. moving something that heavy to cal will add 400.00 to the price, at least.
but sounds like a great deal.
That one guy is right, I just got the LS1 brakes to work on an 8.5 10 bolt, so I imagine it will work on the 12 bolt. got it half way done, but have visitation with my daughter today so Im not sure how much I will get done on it tonight. Will keep you guys posted. Thanks
Rear disc brakes from a 79-81 trans am will bolt right up. They also used that same rear disc on the cadillacs from the late seventys and early eighties. I have a 79 Bandit trans am (4spd Ws6) with a factory 10 bolt with rear disc. It's easy to get parts for, fits 15 inch wheels (slicks) and works well.
Does anyone know if the later model PBR rear disks will bolt on the same way as drums? I have a 9-bolt, so that may make a twist in the plot too. If this will simply swap in, that would be amazing!! And could make you a busy man with food on the table

I'm in for a rear end & would like to see your sfc's. I live outside bloomington/normal Il so shipping is not a concern. I allways try to help local small businessmen when i can.
yeah, I actually have a nine inch from a car that already has disc brakes on it. Im gonna start taking orders in a few days here, just want to see how many Im gonna have to make.
Somebody may have already asked, but this is a CAR 12-bolt, not a truck set-up?? and does it come "turn-key", ready to install and drive.....gear choices???? posi units????

correct. These are car rearends we are talkin about here. Can do 8.5 10 bolts, or can do the 12 bolt rears. From just housings to complete rears, price depends on what all you want, but will still be way cheaper than an aftermarket rear, the posi units I will be offering is a GM posi unit, Just let me know what all you want and I will do everything in my power to help ya out.
this is like a dream come true. i was wondering how long it would take a competent welder/fabricator to under cut the big guys and make an affordable alternative for us 3rd geners.
