LT1 Cam from a 1995 Z28 85,000 miles. This is a great performance boost for a TBI L03/L05 at a very low cost. I can cut the dowel pin down for buyer upon request (LT1 cams had longer dowel pin than Gen 1 small blocks).
Cam is in excellent shape. No worn lobes. See pics
Casting # GMPT BC 17 242 is engraved on the cam body.
Would this be a good upgrade for a 350tpi engine too and what else would i need to install this
The LT1 wil have more lift than your stock cam, so you may need new valve springs. Do some searches on you stock valve springs to find out max lift they can handle before coil bind. Other that that, all you need is elbow grease along with seals & gaskets for timing cover, water pump, and intake manifold.
IMO, the LT1 cam is a great upgrade for a L03 motor. The L03 has a wimpy peanut cam, so the LT1 cam will provde a big performance boost. I would recommend changing valve springs with this cam if you are still running the stockers, which can be done without removing the heads.
A TBI car will benefit from retuning the ecm with this cam swap, although you could probably get away with running the stock bin and bump up fuel pressure as others have done.
There are some very good stickies in the TBI forum to walk you through the details of this cam swap. I've done it. It's not difficult, you just need the motivation and patience to wrench on your motor.
Let me know if you are interested. The cam is still available.
debating.. also i'm looking to still pass emissions that's another thing as well, and maybe keeping or slightly getting better gas mileage? trying to curve it both ways, i know it sounds irrealistic but the 4th gens got good gas mileage imo...
