I bought a complete motor, accessories, harness, computer, exhaust, and everything from the motor to the rear end. I was planning on putting it all in my Elcamino. But, that project is on hold for now.
The motor is well built, with a Super Ram intake. It's a speed density set up. I know that it's not available anymore, and I've seen it go for $4500. I was thinking that $2500 would be more reasonable.
Intake alone, (plenum, runners, and base).
Injectors, harness, computer, and throttlebody are extra.
Well, let me start off by saying thank you Bullydawg for your kind words. I haven't been on this site for a long time due to all of the a$$h0le$ that have hopped on board. You know, people that NEED to reply so they can raise their # of posts. Because that's what makes you the one with the most knowledge.
And second, I have not done a lot of research into what these are going for, I don't even want to sell it. If I would only get that little, then it's not even worth selling. Like I said, this intake is for a project that I won't be able to get to for a while. I don't need to sell it.
Third, I'm sorry jkris, I didn't know that you got screwed so hard on that sale. I hope you used that cash for some Preperation-H. If you think that you got a good deal, then good for you.
I've got a couple of people interested in it and probably will have it sold by Monday night.
I just thought that I'd give someone here a chance first. Sorry if anybody thinks that my price is too steep, I'm just trying to get some extra money since I have a baby on the way.
Guy in the town I live in is selling a superram for a grand. He didn't end up getting what he wanted, but if this really does sell for 2500 I should hit him up and double my money.
It seems unlikely to me that someone would spend that much when your dollar to hp ratio would be much better spent in other pursuits.
At any rate, I don't necessarily think that the motivations of the people posting above were that bad, only intended to raise their post score, or to be an ******* in general.
One could quite easily believe that they have the interests of other (perhaps less aware) members of the board in mind when pointing out when an item (in their opinion) is overpriced. Even if they were wrong, you could still choose to respect their opinion for standing up to what they perceive as price gouging.
Thanks jwheeler for that information. But if I were to let someone know that the part they're trying to sell isn't gonna get what they ask, I do it with more tact. I don't laugh in their faces, and just say good luck with that. I actually post the links that show the current rate they're going for.
Anyways, in my original post, I stated that I've seen them going for $4500, and that $2500 would be more reasonable. From there the correct action would be for someone who wants the part to post an offer. Not for someone to post with jabs at the thread starter.
As if it would matter, the intake sold, not for the $2500 I asked for, but for closer to $2k. Some guy with a '70 Chevelle. It's on it's way to be polished right now. It'll sit on a 406ci, pushing 800+hp. Thank you once again for all of your help. I guess I'll take another hyatus from this site.
I wasn't implying that I was the one who got the good deal but calderone who bought the one on ebay. In fact I was quite shocked when my auction ended as I did search completed ebay and similar units the previous day had sold for $1300. Good luck with your sale, I hope you get what you want for it.
If you look at the one that sold for $647 you will notice it has a stock lower manifold. So in reality he paid that much for the rest. Still a good score I guess.
