Re: Tpi, TBI reprograming, memcals

im swapping my 5.0 TPI to a 5.7 TPI over winter so i might be shooting you an email mate

ive got the ECU from the 5.7 but i had previously removed all the emissions stuff from my 5.0 engine which ive sold, so nothing is going on the 5.7 either, i only ever had one code on the 5.0 to do with the MAF burnoff circuit failure but i think that was down to my shoddy wiring harness which is being replaced.

Anyway, i will bare you in mind for when the 5.7 is nearly ready !

Re: Tpi, TBI reprograming, memcals

I have a 1991 trans am 5.7 tpi. Is it possible to have the prom tuned to make the car get better fuel economy? Even if this sacrifices performance a bit. Please let me know, thanks.

Other than tuneup a stock sd will see around 23 mpg highway. I wouldn't lean out your engine to try to gain fuel milage.

Re: Tpi, TBI reprograming, memcals

a overly lean engine condition will result in overheating, ring tension loss, cylinder wall damage, cylinder scoring and burnt valves.

I finally heard from Brian. He has been absolutely swamped with personal stuff. But most importantly he's fine. We will just need to be patient and give him time to get situated.
