I would like a better $ deal than the $ for a new gm part, if anyone can pick one up off the older '88? etc. (V6) that had no smog pump but used this idler delete pulley and bracket. Thanks.
Can't find ANY Fbodies let alone V6 partcars anywhere here in S.W. Florida salvage yards. Can't anyone locate one of these pulley bracket set-ups for the V6? somewhere? out there?
FYI the GM smog delete pully is an export only item, doubt you will find one on a car in the US unless someone else installed it. I work at a Chev dealer and I had to pull teeth to even get them to ship us the part since it was export only and I had to explain I was using the serp setup on an older car.
I thought that there were 2.8 V6 cars around '88 that came stock without the pump and with this bracket/pulley here in the U.S.??? Wouldn't this bolt right on my '92 3.1??? This is what I've heard before. Wrong? Right?
Autozone carries them for an 86 Camaro with a 2.8. Wrap some string or fishing line around the pulleys and measure it. That way you can be sure you're getting the right one. You can just remove the smog pump then.
just take the smog pump off, get a shorter belt, and re-route it. thats what i did. I'll get you the pn off of my belt next time I have the hood up. that's free (except belt purchase), saves weight and looks better.

They aren't export only...Redraif's car had one stock, and I have seen several of them over the years. I'm going to one of our local yards this week, if I can find one what is it worth to you, shipped?
Maybe not, but its listed as export only in the GM parts catalog.
Not doubting you at all on that part. I didn't even know it was still available. Correction to my previous post: Redraif's didn't have it stock, but we did add it later due to excessive belt whipping (junkyard). It was someone else I knew, who owned an 88 camaro, that had one on the car stock.
