A friend of mine has a 73 Charger in his back yard and he wants to rebuild it. He is looking for a 440 6pack to put in it. Is there any place where he would be able to find one or is he going to go nuts trying to find that engine? Any help with this would be great.

There is a large mopar section in the newer issues of summit. I would imagine you could get a complete 440 from them or some other performance supplier, but I doubt they're still building any 6 packs. They also have a couple different versions of the hemi available now as crate engines, so you have to ask yourself; why not go with the mighty elephant instead??
That is what I told him get a 424 Hemi. He said he wanted a 440 6pack. Personaly I love the Hemi and think it is one of the best engines ever built. I have seen many of cars with that engine in it and oh boy it sounds, runs, and feels like it has all the balls in the world. Man I want a Cuda so bad.

i think you mean a 426 hemi, IF you can find one a core needing a rebuild sells for about $4,000 you can get a 440 somewhat easily, look in big cars, also swap meets and local papers.
If your fiend has a lot of money, Mopar still sells the carbs, intake, cam & air cleaners for the six-pack.They also sell 440 crate motors with
505 or 575 HP.Crate Hemis are available from Mopar with 465, 525 or 610 HP.The 505 HP Mopar costs about $9000,Hemis start at about $12,000.
Six Pack Intake & carbs are about $2000.
P.A.W. has assemble-it-yourself 440's for about
$2000, if it has to be built on a budget.
Bottom line is: Chrysler's are a bunch more expensive to build than a Chevy.Especially Hemis.
You could buy two 500HP Big Block Chevys for the price of one Mopar Wedge Crate Motor.
I for one, am thankful I own Chevys.
