Porting LT1 heads & intake

How much gain could I possibly get after fully porting, intake, trottle body, heads ? and maybe bigger injectors ???

I see some guys on camaroz28.com with all the bolt-ons, home ported LT1 heads and usually the cc306 cam making around 400 rwhp.

Without knowing more specifics I would guess around 35 to 50 additional horsepower.

I'm think it might be better to just save my money and to put it towards a supercharger...

I'm getting tired to work on that old car.

search the LT1 tech boards at Cz28.com, some of those n/a cars are pretty quick.. see a lot of guys in the 12s with bolt ons, more with bolt ons and a cam, and arent 4th gen cars heavier than 3rd gens? also a higher stall converter with those 342s eventually will give you some nice results too..

Ported heads are a great idea. I found a guy who does great work cheap. He will port heads for 400 plus machine work.
My car with these heads and a hot cam should put down 370 whp with an a4

400 hp should be no problem. Heck with my home p&p heads a xe 230-236 plus some other mods including a stall and 3.73 I should be capable of low 12's. I will let you all know if I reach my goal in the spring.

IMO you will not see much gain by the throttle body or intake, but the heads is where the better hp numbers will come from.

93 was last year for non computer controlled 700R4 which GM renamed to 4L60 and later when electronics came in to 4L60E

The 93 TB is looked for because it has the proper cable hookups for use with a 700R4.

be careful not to throw around "400 rwhp" so casually..

my setup should be there now, but I need better headers ( I don't like our longtube choices so I am getting SLP) but the shorty route may stop me short..

Intake wise I am pretty good, but upgrading from a 52mm tb to a 58 is worth a few ponies, so is porting the intake (which is done already).. etc..

I am just saying that it was relatively easy to get a solid driveable and repeatable 373 hp and 360 tq.. to get those last 27 rwhp will take an extra 1000+ dollars.. on top of the cam 400, Lloyd Elliot headwork 1000, rockers 350, lifters 200, injectors 220, pushrods 110, and dynotune 400...

and now a better clutch and the billet flywheel icing on top, 700...

Fast is not cheap, it is fun but not cheap.. the next LTx is going forced induction to keep up with the LSx crowd..

Ported heads and a cam, even with all the bolt ons, isn't a guaranteed 400rwhp by any means, esp if they're ported by an amateur. 360-370 is fairly easy to get, but more than that requires a more radical setup than average.

There's a guy on CamaroZ28.com, Lloyd Elliot, from what I hear he does some bad *** porting! His sn's Nightrain66 I think, he's in TX. He's got 3 packages, that he custom grinds cams for, and I've heard of up to 400HP with just the porting and custom grind cam.

I believe J's ta has Lloyds package. I have a set of his heads with my hot cam. They seem to work very well. I am trapping at 112mph. I hope to surpass the 4oowhp mark later this year with a cam swap and a few other chaanges.
Lloyd is a great guy I would do business with him anytime.
