My 305 to 388 update

Well, it has been almost 5 months in the shop under going surgery. I am about out of time and most of all out of money. With almost $6,000 into the swap, she should be running this weekend. NO PICS YET, BUT SOON! Again, it's a 1991 RS I bought just to rebuild. I paid $2900 for it in perfect cond. It's bright red with red interior, t-tops, auto, very nice. Well, I wanted a drag car that could still put around on the road every Sunday, so I came up with this. So far, the motor is about done, the tranny is about done and the rear end is nearing completion also. This is what is done so far. (this set up alone should get me into the 11's with no bottle, 10's with the bottle, not bad).

*388 SBC 4 bolt mains
Holley 750 cfm double pumper
Forged Scat crank
Forged 6.0" rods
Rebuilt GM HEI distributor
10.75:1 forged flattop SRP pistons Mallory Pro 8mm wires
Fan by-pass switch
Rapid Fire plugs
Crane 280/280* (advertised duration) 530/530 (lift) cam
Holley adjustable fuel pressure regulator
Weiand single plane intake
Holley blue fuel-pump
Moroso Solid motor mounts (welded in place)
Crane 1.6 (intake) 1.5 (exhaust) roller rockers
Duracraft GM starter
Pro Top Line 220 aluminum heads
160* thermostat
Magnum black valve covers
ARP 7/16” stud bolts
Fuel pressure gauge
More...

*TH-700R-4
3,600 RPM Stall
Street/Strip shift kit
solid mounts

*7.5" 10 Bolt
Richmond 4:10 gears
(still need posi unit) :-(

*Exhaust
Hooker Super Comp full leangth headers
3" true dual exhaust pipes
40 series Flowmasters with 3" dumps under car

* NOS 200 SHOT (Incase)

Much more to come, that is just the main part. I should be race ready by summer!

Desk top dyno showed 503HP on the motor alone, top that off with a 200 shot of juice (if needed), NICE!

We cut tons of wires out, and removed all sorts of somg and emmissions ****, she looks clean as hell now!

ALL I CAN SAY IS WHAT A PAIN IN MY BUTT BUILDING A HIGH PERFORMANCE MOTOR FROM SCRATCH!

I think it's the "Fan by-pass switch" that will give you the most horsepower gains! Just kidding. Wow! It looks like a great set-up! I'm jealous...
