z28 tranny w/ vette engine?

as some of you know, i'm soon to be swapping the ol' 6 banger out for a 350. i know i need a new tranny, but i was wondering if the tranny from a 3rd gen 5.7L will handle 300hp. i am almost definetely putting in an LT1 from a '94 corvette, which is 300hp. i think the '92 z28's had around 240hp, so would their tranny be fine with the extra hp? i'm spending around $2000 on the used engine, and if i need to shell out another $1500 for a new tranny i'll have to put my plans on hold. hopefully a tranny from a used camaro will do fine, cause it'll save me $800 or so. well, thanks for the help.

Just put a tranny cooler on it and a shift kit and you should be fine. I would also use synthetic tranny fluid in it.

Try and shop around a bit if you decide to get a 4th gen trans. I have seen them anywhere from $500 to $1200. I'd stay away from Ebay...too much price gouging over there.
