Harness question

I am about to put an 87 tpi 305 in my 91 bird. since i have the complete car, i want to use the 87 harness.

will this present a problem? If so, what?

Anything that should not hook right up?

Nothing comes to mind that you shouldn't hook up.

I'd be concerned about details such as digital dash, tranny-mounted VSS, etc.

Well i think the vss is the same on the 91 and the 87.

I could be wrong. I wont have to pull the dash for the gauges to work right. Everything should work fine cept for the tach? Am i right?

Do both cars (or neither) have a digital dash? If they're the same type, you shouldn't have a problem.

I didn't think '87 Camaros had the tranny mounted VSS (but I could be wrong). What kind of '87 is this coming from?

The 87 TPI is a MAF setup.

If your 3.1 is S/D, you'll have trouble hooking up the MAF.

You may need to add a MAP sensor; and of course, 2 injector plugs.

Or, you could use the 87 computer and harness.

Wait a minute here.

Time is taking EVERYTHING from the TA. ECM, motor, harness. EVERYTHING.

I see no reason why he'd have to add injector plugs, or a MAP considering the ECM is going with the motor.

Since I'm helping Tim with this I know what he's getting at.

What his original question asks is, "Will everything hook right up?" As in, no cutting of the harness, or splicing wires. Or repinning crap.

Thats all we want to know.

Yeah, thats what i want to know.

I am dropping complete motor/trans/harness and ecm in my 91.

Both of them are birds, which means both speedos are electronic.

I am mostly worried about gauge function.
