ZZ4 vs. GM 350 HO?

I have a 305 LO3 and am looking for a new fairly easy installation. These are the two i am looking at, what are the pros and cons of each engine and what one would you get??

Are u planning on keeping the fuel injection? If u are, you are probably going to trash any intake that comes with either. I would get a shortblock, that way u can put any heads, intake and cam u choose.

If you are staying with TBI do not worry about the ZZ4. You will never make enough power NA to need the hyperutectic pistons that is comes with. If you plan on spraying your combo than it would be a good idea. I would look into the GM ho 330 as a great TBI base. You can get great power, drivabilty, and not break the bank.

I dunno if i wanna keep the TBI or go carb yet? I am gettin the ones out of Jegs, so both come with intake for a carb and the GM HO comes complete with carb. What do you think?

I'm probably going to get the GM HO 330 hp, but it comes completly assembled with everything for a carb. Should i keep it this way or get a new vortec TBi intake and get new TBI injectors?

That way is fine as long as you use a vortec intake. Most go with a carb intake with an adapter plate while others fork over the $300 for the GM vortec TBI intake. Either way will work fine. You are goin to have EGR issues with the vortec heads unless you do some custom routing or delete it out of the prom. Whatever way you go be prepared for lots of chip tuning.

If i used a vortec TBI intake, could i use my stock TBI injectors? I know they are good for around 300, but until i get more money, are these useable? And how bad do the vortec heads violate EGR? My car insn't EGR as it is so im not worried about it, but just curious. Thanks alot, this really helps!

You can re-use your injectors no matter what intake you go with. Since they are atached to the TBI unit you do not have to worry about them but instead just getting the unit itself to bolt onto something. You will be at the extreem limits of the stock injectors though and have the possibility of running lean up top. Vortec heads do not have a crossover port. Therefore you must externally plum it if you need to reaint it for emmsions. If not just have it taken care of in the chip.

350 H.O. has a cast crank, Powder Metal rods, dish cast pistons.

ZZ4 has a forged crank, powder metal rods, and hyperutectic pistons.

a buddy of mine built up a 350 H.O. and ended up spinning two rod bearings on that crappy cast crank. engine leaks like a sive too. my buddy steve and i rebuilt it for him.

go forged all the way. much better long term invesment. thats what i'm buying. ZZ4 short block, hot cam, vette heads, built TPI.

I hope you live a state without any Emission Tests because you will not pass with those engines.
