LT1 Tachometer

Ok, I am chasing down the few gremlins left, my tach doesn't work. I have the correct wire spliced into the LT1 harness but no tach. Oil, volts, and temp works.

Also, is there a way to measure the tach signal while the car is running to make sure that the PCM is putting out a signal?

Any ideas?

Thanks for any help

best way would be to get an electronics buddy with an oscilloscope to see the signal (if any).

if you dont have that --- A cheap $10 voltmeter should tell you if a voltage is there or not if youre just looking to find out if the signal is reaching the tach.

other ideas:double check all your tach connections. make sure no wires cut. if you think your tach is bad - hook it up in another car or if you have a spare tach - hook that up and find out.

more than likely there is a bad connection or cut wire somewhere

It could also be a bad sensor connection or bad sensor. I cant remember specifically which sensor picks up the tach signal. its probably the one that connects to the optispark.

no "sensor" reads the tach signal, it's taken straight off the coil.

Well, it turned out to be the tach in the cluster, so I just bought a whole new cluster and swapped it out.
