That makes sence but my dad has a 1960 origional top fuel slingshot. Dosent have the motor or anything but they were solid mount motors. With a solid mount nitromethane sbc i think it would rattle and shake alot more than a cage in a mild street car. The chassie is fine with no cracks in any of the welds.

(installing a 454 as well) There has been some controversy about tubular k-members, that they supposedly wouldn't to able to handle the stresses placed on by daily driving (potholes , etc...) Are you using it as a daily driver , and have you noticed any problems ??? Thanks for your input. BTW that company you got them from , profabracing really appears to be out of business. (?) Anyone heard of those guys lately ? cheerzz

I daliy drove it for 3 yrs...well at least as daliy as a hobby car gets driven. The Kmembers are fine to drive, the a arms are the only thing Ive seen fail...and I have only seen pictures of 1 at that. Profab is out....there are many others out there now with the latest and greatest, when I did mine there was not a lot of guys using them.

Blackroc86,

Good Day,

I have an 84 camaro and I am currently undergoing the bbc conversion. Do you have any saved notes and pics of your engine swap? Thank you, your efforts are greatly appreciated.

Good Day,

I am currently installing a bbc 427 into my Camaro, I have the k-member, long tube hooker headers. I have read your post several times and it has helped alot. Did you incounter any problems with the long tube headers and the k-member; the headers clearing the k-member... the headers clearing the floor pan etc.....

a-i am still gathering info and pieces needed. finally decided to put a 8.8 ford rearend conversion.found a f-150 rearend(too wide) but it had a limited slip and the 3.55 gears i wanted. a explorer housing is the perfect width-am saving for moser axles, c clip eliminators, and having the brackets cut off the gm rearend&welded on the 8.8-the lil gm rearendwont last 2 burnouts with the 496 thats goin on this 82-hope this helps-the header thing about drove me crazy- if you put anything with a primary tube smaller than 2 on a big block youo are killing your power. ed quay makes excelent headers that actually fit.`the hookers are a joke-and the patriot clipsters are not tuned and just too small . i am trying to do this right the first time-i dont want to have ot go back and strenghten things once i get it done, and i dont want to give up any horsepower, just to be a little easier--i want to go kick some *** with this beast!!! if i can help at all dont hesitate to drop me a line

You will have to check your state laws. I know when I was in Alaska you could install any motor that was an option when the vehicle was ordered. The motor also had to be the same year of the vehicle or newer.

Re: 396 BBC Swap Questions on 90 Camaro Street car

I am somewhat new here, but i am in the process of fitting my 468 bbc into my 89 rs. it is merely for fitment and then will be removed for paint, and put back in. A lot of work I know, but i want it to be nice. I will try to put up a pic to show the first fitment. I got the hookers on ebay ceramic coated for 350$ i believe they are waayyy more than that new, but these were in like new condition, althought there was quite a few fitment dings in them. The car currently has the stock mounts in it, but it will be changed to a tub k-member, hopefully adding some realestate and saving a few pounds. the car will be street legal (barely) 468 bbc 13:1 powerglide-4500 stahl with a brake.

Did you have to cut or modify anything in order to fit the hookers.
